While the skin on our hands, face, and body both undergo a cell turnover process, they do so at different rates. Our facial skin has a faster cell turnover rate than our body skin, which means that it renews itself more frequently. In fact, the skin cell turnover rate of facial skin is typically around 28-30 days, while the skin cell turnover rate of body skin is typically around 30-45 days. This difference in renewal rate reflects the loving and intentional approach our bodies have towards maintaining our health and wellbeing. The unique qualities of our skin also play a role in the cell turnover process, ensuring that our skin stays healthy, vibrant, and beautiful.

Body Skin Cell Turnover Highlights

The basal cell turnover rate of body skin is typically slower than that of facial skin, at around 30-45 days compared to 28-30 days for facial skin.
The spinous cell turnover rate is also slower in body skin than in facial skin, at around 30-45 days compared to 14-21 days.
The granular cell turnover rate is similar between body and facial skin, at around 7-14 days.
The cornified cell turnover rate is also similar between body and facial skin, at around 14-28 days.
